Abstract

OVOP (One Village One Product) is a local economic development concept that originates from Japan and is applied in various countries to increase the income and welfare of village communities by focusing on the production of one type of superior product in each village. Implementing information technology (IT)-based OVOP can bring many benefits and increase the effectiveness of the program. The following are several ways IT can be applied in OVOP: 1). Data Collection and Analysis, 2). Management and Production Systems; 3). E-Commerce Platform; 4). Digital Marketing; 5). Training and Education; 6). Geographic Information Systems (GIS); 7). Communication and Collaboration; 8). Product Innovation. By integrating IT in OVOP, villages can be more effective in exploiting local potential, managing production processes, and reaching wider markets, which in turn can improve the economic welfare of village communities. This research aims to evaluate the implementation of OVOP in Indonesia which has been implemented since 2008 and form a recommendation for developing potential craft products using the OVOP approach by taking over the case study of Cijambu Village and Rancakalong Village, Sumedang Regency. This evaluation then forms a model that will be used in developing OVOP. Recommendations are directed at the government as policy makers, the community as implementers, and the private sector, especially design academics or professional designers. Apart from the importance of government commitment and community participation in carrying out and monitoring the implementation of programs that have been prepared, developing designs from potential commodities into products plays a very important role. A very strong role of designers is needed to be able to develop designs that are aware of market needs while maintaining traditional craft values and solving problems faced by the industry. The results of this research found various factors that influence the success of the program formulated by researchers in a feedback process model. The input provided in the form of ideas, programs and energy sources can be carried out through the organization, where the capability of the leader through the doctrine provided and the provision of full support from the beneficiaries can produce outputs of increased prosperity of society. The resulting feedback greatly contributes to subsequent program improvements.
